The Queen's Platinum Jubilee - Big Jubilee Lunch
Everyone in Medbourne and Nevill Holt is invited for lunch which will be funded by donations from the Parish Council.
Children’s Fancy Dress Parade and Best Crown Competition, Boat Race, cutting of the Platinum Cake, and music.
Tables will be supplied but you will need to bring with you chairs, plates, cutlery, glasses and drinks. Gazebos if the weather is inclement.
The good news is that Leicestershire County Council has agreed to the closure of Main Street outside the Village Hall which means that we can have a “proper” Street Party.
We have had a wonderful response to the lunch and the Committee has thought long and hard about the original proposal to make lunch for everybody. Sadly, because of the numbers, dreaded “Health and Safety” has come into play and regretfully we have decided that it would be safer for you all to bring your own picnic. I know this will be a great disappointment - mind you some of you might be relieved! The good news is that the Committee will be putting wine, beer and soft drinks on each table.
The timing of events that day is as follows:-
10.00 Table set-up by committee and helpers
11.30 Attendees can bring chairs etc to set up for their lunch
12.30 Lunch
1.30-2.00 Fancy Dress Parade and Best Crown Competition
2.00 Presentation of prizes including Best Dressed House Competition (this will be judged on Saturday morning)
2.15 A Toast to the Queen and Cutting of Platinum Jubilee Cake by winner of Best Crown Competition
2.30 Boat Race (subject to there being water in the brook)
Music from 1952-2022 will be played throughout the lunch thanks to Rob Almond
